Medicinal Cannabis Butter/Oil

Let your imagination run wild with the versatility of Canna Butter/Oils. They are perfect for baking and cooking; you can replace up to 100% of the butter/oil in your recipes depending on your tolerance. Furthermore, Canna Coconut Oil is also great for making body care products, pills, ointments, and suppositories.

Ingredients

10 g decarboxylated cannabis (more if needed)

175 g butter or coconut oil

Preparation

My personal guide for making medicinal cannabis butter or oil, the result of countless experiments in my kitchen lab. Easy to make at home, packaged in mason jars, cooked in a crockpot without the neighbors noticing.

• Devide butter/oil and cannabis evenly in mason jars and seal.

• Arrange mason jars in the pot without touching each other.

• Fill the crockpot with water to the fat level of the mason jars, and cover.

• Heat water to 85°C and maintain temperature for at least 4 hours.

After simmering, slowly cool down the jars in the pot. Once the jars are hand-warm, filter the warm mixture, e.g. through a gold filter, tea mesh, cheesecloth, or a French press. Store the cooled, filtered fat in the mason jars in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

Tip

I only use clarified butter to avoid the unwanted green whey that occurs with butter.

Medizinisches Cannabis Tinktur

Medicinal Cannabis Tincture

Excellent for micro dosing and as a base for edibles and drinkables. Very discreet and fast-acting when used sublingually.

Canna Tinktur
Ingredients

250 ml high-proof alcohol (Everclear)

10 g decarboxylated cannabis (feel free to use more for a stronger tincture)

Preparation
  • Fill the decarboxylated cannabis into a 1/2-liter mason jar.

  • Place the mason jar and alcohol bottle in the freezer for 24 hours.

  • Pour the alcohol into the jar with the cannabis and close it tightly.

  • Shake the jar for one minute and then return it to the freezer.

  • Repeat the one-minute shaking several times a day.

After 3 days, you can check the potency of the tincture for the first time. Once the desired potency is reached, it will be filtered into a dark bottle using the funnel-filter method. The tincture can be stored at room temperature and filled into small tincture bottles as needed.

Tip

Let the small tincture bottle sit in the sun for a few hours with the cap off, this will allow some of the alcohol to evaporate, making the tincture more palatable and stronger.

Decarboxylation

Decarboxylation

To be effective, medicinal cannabis must be heated before use.

Decarboxylation

This process is called decarboxylation and converts tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) into THC and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) into CBD. THCA and CBDA cannot penetrate the blood-brain barrier and reach the CB1 receptors, so a heating process is required. In short, THCA/CBDA are activated through decarboxylation and THCA is converted into psychoactive THC.

Ingredients

Dried Cannabis

  • Preheat the oven to 235°F

  • Break the cannabis into rice-grain-sized pieces

  • Line a baking sheet with lightly crumpled aluminum foil

  • Spread the cannabis evenly on the aluminum foil

  • Cover the cannabis with another sheet of aluminum foil

  • Place it in the middle rack of the oven

  • Bake for 45 minutes

  • Let it cool for 30 minutes at room temperature

Tip

I pack the cannabis crumbs into turkey bags and place them on the baking sheet. This way I can dispense with the top layer of aluminum foil, decarboxylate multiple strains at the same time, and it is odorless.

As a hobby gardener, I use trim or old flowers and prepare larger quantities and different strains in advance. I store the decarboxylated cannabis in airtight Milmar bags in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Medicinal Cannabis Suppositories

Admittedly, this method takes some getting used to, but it is compensated by its targeted application possibilities.

Canna Zaepfchen
Ingredients

80 g canna coconut oil

80 grams of cocoa butter

Preparation
  • Melt the canna oil and cocoa butter in a double boiler over medium heat.

  • Stir occasionally until well combined.

  • Pour the liquid mixture into molds.

  • Place in the fridge until the suppositories have set.

  • Cut suppositories to desired size(s) and store in refrigerator for up to 6 months.

Tip

I use silicone molds meant for making ice cubes for water bottles and cut the suppositories as needed. These suppositories work within 15 minutes and provide a pleasant body feeling without getting impaired. It can be used rectally or vaginally and is therefore particularly suitable for extreme back pain, menstrual cramps and pain during sex.
